THE INFERIORITY OF MEN: Are men afraid of smarter women…?

Women used to be known as jewels and pillars. Or in other word, are loyal vertical supports for the men, as the saying goes:

“Behind a successful man, stands a bright woman.”

We can now see how the shape of living has changed in the past few decades. Bright women no longer take a permanent stand behind a man, refuses to take orders of men, but instead women take drastic-brave measures to go solo. The traditional saying that discourages women long ago:

“Why must you be an educated woman, when your place remains in the kitchen?”

“No matter how high the living standards of a woman, we know that the end is when she reproduces.”

“Marriage is a barrier between women and success.”

            … … These sayings have proved incorrect for the women, especially in the urban areas. Instead, we can see the war between sexes arise in almost every sector including education, politics, finance, economics, engineering and there is even a rumor spreading fast, that Queens want to reform to rule alone without a King by her side. How true is this? We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing we can be sure of is that women are not only getting smarter as claimed, but they are encouraged to go farther than the men, they are challenged to be equal of men, and all of this caused an issue we are all aware of… Do these actions of the women leave the men feeling inferior…?

Every level of the society have surfaced this question to public and still we do not know the exact confirmation as the answers of 10 men cannot be related to the whole population of men.

            In all the posts of this blog, real-life stories and comments are revealed from both the men and women population sent in by people through my personal email and snail-mails. And from these stories and ideas that people have about inferiority, we can actually see who are those to blame for the rise of the women. Women are sick to be victims of violence even in a marriage where they were treated as second best. Arguments, ‘loud discussions’, and fights are considered as common music in marriage lives. But what hurts women most is when the men keep on raking up on their responsibilities, trying hard to stay arrogant and egoistic, as if they have been doing perfect jobs all awhile and leave the negative blames on the shoulder of their wives. With reference to dialogs taken from husband-and-wife fights, when the husband is caught womanizing:

“I look for the money, and as long as the money keeps coming in, you have no rights to question any of my actions…!”

“I have the money, and my resources permit me to support you and many more women out there…” 

Whenever a child in the family is caught being immoral to the society or have brought shame to the family, mostly the men will brag about this, not wanting to take full responsibilities. It’s true that some fathers do take actions and be responsible, but only 3 out of 10 fathers will do that. What happened to 7 more? Here’s another dialog of a husband to a wife:

“I have fed you, dressed you, have given you all the comfort you could asked. And I ask for one thing in return, nurture our children well. And you failed to do even this simplest task in the world…?”

            … I put myself as his wife, and only God knows how it breaks my heart. Food, shelter and clothes are living essentials and the men really have to question those? It is a question of responsibilities, but now it has been an issue of give and take. Sharing has lost its place in the society’s dictionary. Everything is “If broken, considered sold…”

            Marriage is not only the elements that brought women to be victims of violence. Violence against women happens almost in every place we could think of. The office, public transports, on the road, the neighborhood… Sexual harassment is a crime that happens everywhere but the women are afraid of reporting or they are not aware of it as they thought it was a naughty joke. There is a big difference between sexual harassment and just dirty jokes. I can’t think of any place to be safe anymore, these days. Even your own houses have become places of threat. How many cases can you read in the newspaper where women are beaten up, raped, robbed, etc in the comfort of their own shelter? Almost everyday, there is at least one case. Please be reminded, not all cases are reported and printed on papers.

            Finally, now had come to an era where the women rise and proposed equality between them and the beasts of the land – men. Violence victims have become eye-openers to women in the past decades and grudges have become motivations to take their places, not behind a man, but walk side-by-side a man.

“Men and women are similar to the left and right wings of an airplane. Without one, the plane will not able to fly in the sky.”

“Questioning the superiority between men and women, is like asking a bird which wing is more important – the left or the right?”

            Yet, as wonderful as it may sound, women made progress that changed their lives rapidly seen in the shape of Macroeconomics, but with a price to pay. Women have too, turned arrogant and egoistic. No longer have a woman held her tongue in a presence of a man, but one of the bold speakers of the world is women. Decades ago, a woman who loves playing music is considered to be too passionate and this is not good in the eyes of social. But in this just few decades, women made amazing changes. And again these changes left a question unanswered – Are men now afraid of smarter women?
